While Tom Ford and Kanye West made for a slow start of September New York Fashion Week, it ended on an extremely high note.
Some highlights were the return of popular brand Thakoon, after taking last off, and Swiss designer Akris presented at NYFW as opposed to the usual Paris Fashion week presentation. Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim on Monse were named new creative directors of Oscar de la Renta.
Other highlights included the 2,000 occupancy carnival of Tommy Pier by Tommy Hilfiger. It was one of the coolest presentations from fashion week and the collection was beautiful as well.
Mac brought Snapchat to life. I thought that was such a quirky idea, that looks stunning!
Refinery29 brought an arts and culture presentation together in an 80,000 square foot warehouse in Brooklyn featuring 29 rooms each featuring it own identity.
“Show Your Pride” in collaboration with Kate Moross.
“Gurlsktalk” in collaboration with Adwoa Aboah.
Street artist Nick Kuszyk did the exterior of 29rooms.
“Garden of Energi” in collaboration with Ford.
Makeup was pretty minimal on all the runways, which was cool. I like the extension of minimal makeup to nail art with simple colors and patterns.
I also loved this simple but dramatic silver shine from Tome.
And finally, back to the fashion, I could not get enough of these Rebecca Minkoff Coats.
And I would like these outfits to find their way into my closet asap.
I love love love the shimmery skirt!

(Obviously it needs a slip underneath, but the neon is so avant-garde.)
